NEWS
We are very pleased to welcome our new members: Kaja Bace, Jay and Christie Fountain, John Nolan, Gaby Pareja, Ann Rustici, Debbie Schmidel and Sue Sweeney. Below are bios for Jay and Christie, Sue and Ann. They have all been involved in our congregational life in the past months, frequently being seen helping at events or serving on committees, but if you haven’t met them, please take the time to introduce yourself.
GREETER CORPS – The Membership Committee will be developing a “Greeter Corps” to enhance the welcome provided to our guests and we are actively seeking volunteers for this group. There will be no meetings, no arduous time commitment, just the use of your own natural abilities to make people feel comfortable as they enter our spiritual home.
The goal is to have a dozen or so people who will commit to a specific Sunday in advance. Duties would be to hand out hymnals, invite guests to the coffee hour, answer any questions and talk to them if it seems appropriate and there is time before the service. After the service, escort them into the Social Room, get them coffee/tea, a nametag, and if they are willing, to fill out a green information sheet. Offer them the brochures on the Guest Table. Introduce them to others and invite them back again. In addition, members of this Greeter Corps would be sensitive to any members/friends who seem to be outside the hustle/bustle of the coffee hour and initiate a conversation with them.
The responsibilities and time commitment are not demanding and this is a nice way
to get involved in UUSIS, meet new people and learn more about some of our own members/friends.
